Today, The Gambia is hosting a four-day International conference of the ECOWAS, Community Court of Justice on the theme: ECOWAS’ Zero Tolerance for Unconstitutional Change of Government, at the Sir Dawda Jawara International Conference Centre.
This conference is discussing the need for participatory democracy & constitutional order in all ECOWAS Member States.
In addition, the conference will examine the linkage with the rule of law & duty of Member States to respect, protect & fulfill human rights in their territory; the underlying factors for political instability, terrorism & insecurity in the sub-region; failure by Member States to fulfill their regional obligations to ECOWAS; weak institutions of Member States & lack of political will for the Implementation of community obligations.
