As reported by the Senegalese medium, Seneweb, Ousmane Sonko was sentenced to two years in prison for youth corruption on Thursday by the criminal chamber. He was acquitted of rape and death threats. He will also have to pay a fine of 600,000 CFA francs.
The Advocate General had requested against the third of the presidential election of 2019 and the president of the Pastef party ten years in prison for rape, or at least five years in prison for “corruption of youth”.
Mr. Sonko, who did not attend the trial and had taken refuge in Ziguinchor, never stopped protesting his innocence and shouting at a plot hatched by the president, who denies it.
