The esteemed First Lady Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow, along with other African First Ladies, is currently in Congo Kinshasa to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).
The upcoming event will feature reflections from the First Ladies on their 20-year commitment to serving Africa’s most vulnerable populations, as well as discussions on the organization’s progress, challenges, and future direction. Additionally, the organization has launched a new campaign called “WE ARE EQUAL: Unifying to Close the Gender Gap,” which aims to address four key areas of focus – health, education, gender-based violence, and economic participation. This campaign will target policymakers, implementing partners, activists, and community leaders.
The President of OAFLAD, HE Madam Monica Geingos, who also serves as the First Lady of Namibia, recently launched a new campaign. A gala dinner was held to raise funds for the organization, which successfully raised $816,000.
