The Gambia Police Force, on Friday 7th July 2023, nabbed two persons allegedly involved in a break-in and stealing at a residence in Brusubi.
The two suspects have been arrested after being accused of forcefully entering a residential property and making away with valuable items, including different types of iPhones and Samsung phones. The case was reported to the Brusubi Police Station.
After a thorough investigation, the Police traced a phone call from one of the suspects who feigned to be a police officer to his victims with the intent of obtaining passcodes for the stolen phones. He was apprehended at the Serrekunda Black Market, where he confessed to his deception.
The information provided by the first suspect led to the arrest of the main suspect, who was found in possession of the stolen phones. During the investigation, the police recovered a significant amount of stolen property at a residence in London Corner. Both suspects are in custody and helping the Police in their investigation into the matter.
The Gambia Police Force extends its gratitude to the public for their cooperation while at the same time, cautioning anyone who is in the habit of impersonating a police officer to extort money or embark on illegal activities to desist from the act. Impersonation under Gambian laws is a punishable offense and attracts grave penalties.
