The Gambia Police Force said The Operation on general motor vehicle check which began on 3rd July 2023 in the Greater Banjul area has now been extended to Farafenni (NBR), Brikama (WCR), and Kaur (CRR North).
The Operation aims at strengthening the level of compliance,ย roadworthiness, and proper documentation of vehicles of all categories plying the roads in the country. Several vehicles and motorcycles, private and commercial, have been impounded by Mobile Police Officers involved in this exercise across the regions, due to the above-mentioned reasons.
“Observably, since the enforcement of this exercise came into effect, there has been a significant reduction in road traffic accidents on public roads as compliance level in terms of traffic regulations has improved satisfactorily, more especially in major accident-prone/ reported areas.
The Operation will be replicated across the country, to end human-induced traffic accidents in The Gambia.
The Police high command once again reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property of everyone in The Gambia, while imploring all and sundry to support the Police in this endeavor for the common good.”
