The Gambia Government is pleased to announce that upon the swift intervention of His Excellency, President Adama Barrow and his counterpart, President Umaro Sissoco Embaló, some seventeen Gambian trucks that were impounded in Guinea Bissau have been released to members of The Gambia Transport Union. The vehicles were loaded with logs bound for The Gambia.
Based on the cordial bilateral and fraternal relationship between the two Heads of State, President Adama Barrow, upon receipt of the news, quickly dispatched a Gambian delegation comprising Foreign Minister Momodou Tangara, Trade Minister Baboucarr Joof and the Director for Regional Integration and Head of ECOWAS National Office, Ms. Ndeye Tabara Touray to Bissau. After a successful conclave with President Embaló, the impounded Gambian vehicles were released unconditionally.
Therefore, the Barrow Government extends profound gratitude to the Government of Guinea Bissau under the leadership of President Umaro Sissoco Embalo for their support and cooperation throughout the negotiations.
Accordingly, The Gambia Government urges all operators involved in cross-border activities to have proper documentation that meets the requirements of trading partners within the subregion to avoid similar incidents.
