Delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives
The House Democracy Partnership (HDP) of the United States House of Representatives visited the National Assembly of the Gambia. This meeting facilitated important discussions on parliamentary structures, legislation, representation, and oversight mandates.
During the visit, the esteemed guests interacted with chairpersons from various committees of the National Assembly. A roundtable discussion was held to explore the crucial roles and responsibilities of the parliamentary committees, highlighting their central role in effective governance.
The discussions also offered National Assembly Members a broader perspective on the structure and programming of the House Democracy Partnership and the National Democratic Institute (NDI), a key implementor. These collaborative initiatives exemplify the power of global cooperation, even when The Gambia is not a direct part of the HDP.
