The Deputy Speaker of the National.Assembly of the Gambia, honourable Seedy SK Njie , speaking at the United Nations in New York, calls for for a permanent seat for Africa.

“The Gambian Ambassador to the United Nations,His Excellency Ambassador Lamin Dibba is assisting me alongside Naffissatou Njie, Principal Budget Officer of the National Assembly.
On the issue of “Might is not right: International law vs the law of the jungle”, I highlighted the injustices of the United Nations and the need to urgently reform the United Nations Security Council to accommodate Africa, Arab World and others. It was my firm view the African continent with a population of a little over 1.4 billion people as of 2023 which is twice Europe yet, we’re not represented in the Security Council, is unfair, unjust and represent a law of the jungle.”
Honourable Njie added that the International community continues to ignore the plight of Palestinians who are being horrendously harmed and killed daily by Israel amid Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine for over seventy-five years.
“The wars in Ukraine, Yemen , Syria are all sponsored by countries that disregard public international law, United Nations security council and general assembly resolutions .”
He urged Governments and Parliamentarians to act from commitment to action to end the injustices around the world and end the wars in Israel and Ukraine.
