Gambia’s president Adama Barrow joined world leaders in congratulating the president-elect of Senegal while hoping that the cordial relationship between the two countries will be enhanced.
He commented on the Senegalese people for the peaceful conduct of the election.
‘The Government of the Republic of The Gambia
congratulates His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye on his election as the 5th President-elect of
the Republic of Senegal after the Presidential election held on 24th March 2024.
The peaceful conduct of the election is a clear manifestation of the great affinity of the
Senegalese people to democratic governance and populism.
The Gambia commends all political
stakeholders for their great maturity and for upholding the supreme interest and the widely
admired democratic credentials of Senegal. Senegal has triumphed in this democratic
dispensation. The Gambia is confident of the continued dynamism of this collective effort and
the consolidation of the bilateral relationship that happily exists with Senegal.
The Government of The Gambia commends the outgoing President, His Excellency Macky Sall
for delivering his commitment to a successful election and solidifying the fraternal ties between
The Gambia and Senegal.’
