Senegal: Generals Jean Baptiste Tine (left) and Birame Diop, respectively former high commander of the gendarmerie and former chief of staff of the armed forces, are appointed minister of the interior and minister of defense by Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Ousmane SONKO.

For the record, these two high-ranking soldiers have made their mark on consciences in recent years. They had been dismissed by Macky sall for refusing to carry out an illegal order.
Indeed, during the tragic events of March 2021, to prevent a mass massacre, Tine blocked the recruitment of thugs in the Gendarmerie decided by President Sall while Diop refused the use of lethal weapons on civilian populations.

They were both dismissed, out of anger, by Macky Sall determined to stay in power at all costs.
