In a special gesture, the President of The Gambia, His Excellency Adama Barrow, received the President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, at Banjul International Airport and gave him a ceremonial welcome.
After President Faye’s arrival at State House, the two heads of state held a Tête-à-Tête meeting. Following that, they had a bilateral meeting, and a joint communique was issued, which emphasized their commitment to maintaining the established Presidential Council.“The two heads of state expressed great satisfaction with the status of the bilateral relationship between The Gambia and Senegal. They collectively emphasized the unique bonds between the two countries, which are inextricably linked by history, geography, culture, and common development aspirations.
They commended the diverse efforts being made to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in many sectors.”The joint communique was read by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Excellency Mamadou Tangara, and his Senegalese counterpart, His Excellency Yassine Fall, Minister for African Integration and Foreign Affairs.
The visit of the Senegalese head of state reflects the important bilateral ties between The Gambia and Senegal.
