The Gambia Police Force, in partnership with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center (KAIPTC), commenced a two-week training course on Child Protection for forty-three participants – GPF, GID, GPS, SIS, and DLEAG- at Paradise Suites Hotel on Monday, May 13, 2024.
The objective of this training is to equip officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to safeguard the rights of children in policing service delivery.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Momodou Sowe speaking at the ceremony on behalf of IGP Touray, warmly welcomed the Commandant of KAIPTC, Major General Richard Addo Gyane, and his team to The Gambia, underscoring the importance of this course for the country. He urged participants to approach the training with seriousness and dedication.
In his opening remarks, General Richard Addo Gyane, the Commandant of Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center, emphasized the vulnerability of children to crime and child poverty. The KAIPTC commandant concluded his remark stating, “we reaffirm commitment to continue supporting The Gambia Police Force in its capacity building and training efforts.”
The Gambia Police Force will continue collaborating with partners and stakeholders to enhance knowledge and skills for the protection of children.
