The honorable minister of health, Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh is currently representing the Ministry of Health The Gambia at the ongoing Commonwealth Health Ministers meeting. Dr. Samateh’s role in shaping the future of healthcare in our country and across the Commonwealth cannot be understated.
During the meeting, Dr. Samateh emphasized the importance of health systems strengthening and increasing access to healthcare through the expansion of health facilities and enhancing the National Health Insurance Scheme. He also called on the health advisory committee to work towards standardizing healthcare among member states, particularly in the fight against falsified and substandard medication, which poses a major threat in smaller countries.
The ministry of Health is proud to have such a dedicated and visionary leader at the helm of our health ministry, and we look forward to the invaluable insights and partnerships that will result from his attendance at the Commonwealth Health Ministers meeting.
