Rwanda’s incumbent President Paul Kagame is set to cruise to a fourth term in office in a landslide victory.
In partial results released by the National Electoral Commission, Rwanda, Kagame is leading in the elections held on Monday.
The Commission said Kagame has 7,099,810 votes, representing 99.15 per cent of the total votes tallied.
In the partial results, his closes challenger, Habineza Frank has 38,301 votes while Mfayimana Philippe is last with 22,753.
They each represent 0.53 and 0.32 per cent of the total votes tallied so far.
The tallying of the votes, however, continues, the Commission said.
“As of now, the votes that have been tallied in the elections of the President of the Republic are 78.94%.”
