The Outgoing European Union Ambassador to The Gambia, H.E Corrado Pampaloni, Thursday bid farewell to His Excellency President Adama Barrow at the State House, following a four-year tenure in the country.
The EU Ambassador expressed deep affection for The Gambia stating, “It is difficult to leave a great country like The Gambia”.
Reflecting on his tenure, he praised the country’s ability to find peaceful solutions during challenging times, particularly, transitional justice, security sector reform, and protecting the rights of women and girls.
Ambassador Pampaloni reassured the President of continuing projects, such as the dumpsite project and electronic panel for schools.
President Barrow expressed gratitude for Ambassador Pampaloni’s dedication and service to The Gambia. He acknowledged the strong partnership between The Gambia and the European Union. He equally applauded the EU’s contributions to various development initiatives in the country, including building modern police stations amongst others.
President Barrow also seeks the EU’s continued partnership to tackle irregular migration in The Gambia.
