Deputy Commissioner Lamin Jaiteh said the Gambia Police Force is currently aligning their operations and conducts in conformity with human rights.
DC Jaiteh who is the head of the Community Policing Unit of the Gambia Police Force spoke at length on the concept of community policing noting that the police advocate for the rule of law while being sensitive to human rights issues.
” The police is now open for discussion. The police as an institution cannot work in isolation”
DC Jaiteh further elaborated on the need for stakeholder engagement as well as citizens’ operation in the realization of community policing.
Centre for Research, Policy, and Development (CRPD) is supporting a three-day convergence aimed at promoting collaboration between the police, civil society organizations (CSOs), and the media.
This event is taking place alongside the Gambia Police Force’s critical three-day validation workshop on the Police Bill at the Bakadagi Hotel.
This initiative is crucial for building stronger partnerships and ensuring effective communication and cooperation among key stakeholders involved in advancing democratic policing in The Gambia.
