The Chief of Kombo East, Bakary Sanyang yesterday presided over the unveiling of the Bell Bottling Company’s juice drinks at the Kuloro Football Field grounds.
The occasion also witnessed the draw for the second edition of Bell Bottling Company’s Football Tournament as well as the presentation of Footballs, cups, and T-shirts to the eight participating teams(Jola Kunda, NEMA, Sitako, Bonto Koto, Bonto Kuta, Black Star, Tungina and Kaira Kunda.)
All teams are drawn from the villages of Pirang, Bonto, Kuloro, and Tungina.
Chief Sanyang spoke at length on the importance of establishing the factory in his community as well the its consistent support to the community.
” Anytime something is happening in our community, Mr Sowe attends for the company or sends in their contribution. We are grateful to them”
The company currently employs multiple Kombo East natives and wishes to further strengthen the relationship with more assistance to the people.
According to Mr Lamin Sowe who represented the company, the product being unveiled is extracted from the local “Wonjo” juice.
” This is the first time in the Gambia to launched such a product. The company is fulfilling its promise to launch the product with the community before distributing it into the market and also seeks the blessings of the community elders”
Mr Sowe pointed out that the initiative will encourage the cultivation of ” Wonjo” by Farmer hence the company will buy raw- materials from them to process them into juice drinks, thereby enhancing their income.
The tournament coordinator at the community, Lamin Star Jarju as well officials of the Kuloro Sports Committee stressed the importance of the initiative which is to develop sports in the community and enhance social cohesion.
The tournament starts next week on Tuesday the 10th of September at Kuloro.
