Thousands of mourners gathered this afternoon in Tallinding to pay their final respects to former Mayor of the Kanifing Municipality, His Worship Yankuba Colley. The solemn occasion drew people from all walks of life, reflecting the wide-reaching impact of a man who dedicated much of his life to public service. Among the attendees were prominent political figures, local leaders, community members, and those whose lives were touched by Colley’s leadership.
Many of those spoke at the funeral recalled Colley’s years of service with gratitude.
As prayers were offered for his peaceful passage to the afterlife, there was a collective sense of loss, but also gratitude for the mark he left on the Kanifing Municipality.
The officiating imam led the gathering in a moving prayer, stating:
*”May Allah, in His infinite mercy, forgive the shortcomings of our brother and mayor, Yankuba Colley. May He reward him for all the good he has done for his community, and may He grant him Jannah, where peace and tranquility abound. May the family he leaves behind find solace in the knowledge that his legacy of service will never be forgotten. Ameen.”*
As the crowd slowly dispersed, there was a shared sense that the legacy of Yankuba Colley, former Mayor and a man of the people, would continue to inspire future generations.
