The chairman of the Brikama Area Council honourable lawyer Yankuba Darboe this morning has presided over the official launching of the regional NACONF local organizing committee for the West Coast Region at the council chambers.
In his inaugural speech, Chairman Darboe said the NACONF is an opportunity for all holders of public office to hear from future leaders.
Chairman Darboe who is a champion of youth advancement pointed out that his office will continue its traditional role of offering support to young people.
The BAC has been a partner, and we have been very supportive. I can assure you we will continue that part”
The theme for this year is:The role of young people in the maintenance of peace, and security for the socioeconomic development of our country, challenges, and opportunities).
This is indeed a very important subject to discourse, hear, learn, and develop solutions ”
In his solidarity statement, the Deputy Governor of the West Coast Region, Honourable Baba Galleh Jallow stressed that his office will work hand in glove with the local organizing committee to ensure that the region fully participates in the historic event.
” We will be with you from day one until December.”
He advised the youth to maintain discipline and adhere to the rules and regulations of the NACONF.
The region he added has been achieving glory and the team should not underperform but maintain the momentum.
The chairperson of the West Coast Regional Youth Committee, Mr Lamin Sanneh said the NACONF will provide a platform for the young people to discuss peers and agree on the way forward.
” The discussion will focus on many thematic areas relevant to youth and National Development such as youths in leadership and governance, at all levels, promoting Democracy, respect for human rights and sexual and reproductive health of Young people, creating a descent entrepreneurship for young people…”
Mr Sanneh further asserted that the conference discussion points will also take into account international and local instructions in support of the development of young people.
The youth rep at the Brikama Area Council Honourable Binta Senghor said the launch of the LOC is more than just forming a committee it signifies the beginning of a journey that will empower youths.
She spoke at length on the significance of initiative emphasizing that it will be a platform for voices to be heard ideas to be shared and solutions to be developed.
The 2024 NACONF is slated for December at the Kanifing Municipality where 200 delegates will represent the Coast Region.
Formal appointment letters were presented to members of the LOC which marks the beginning of their task
