The National Assembly of The Gambia is set to hold an extraordinary session on Saturday to consider and approve the appointment of a new Clerk, as the current Clerk, Momodou Sise, reaches retirement age in December after serving in the position for nearly six years.
Momodou Sise, who became Clerk in 2018, succeeded the late Dodou C.M. Kebbeh, who held the longest tenure in the Assembly’s history. Sise holds a master’s degree in management and has served in various public institutions across The Gambia. Before he was appointed Clerk, he spent over a decade in different roles within the National Assembly.
Among the likely candidates to succeed Sise are Khalifa MM Mbye, Deputy for Legal and Procedural Matters; Daniel Cardos, Deputy for Legislative Business and Programmes; and Buba Jatta, Deputy for Administration. The Assembly is expected to review and approve one of these candidates during the extraordinary session on Saturday.
