Today, the Vice President of The Gambia, H.E. Mohammed B.S. Jallow, officially launched the Trade Logistics Charter on behalf of President H.E. Adama Barrow.
The event, held at the Sir Dawda Jawara International Conference Center in Bijilo, marks a significant step towards transforming the nation’s trade ecosystem and driving economic growth.
“This Charter is to act as a foundation for improving the operational efficiency of our port and trade ecosystem. By the same token, it is to ensure that we jointly regain lost revenue and secure a brighter and more competitive future for The Gambia,” said VP Jallow.
Highlights of the Charter:
✅ Streamlined customs processes
✅ Optimized management of physical assets
✅ Enhanced inter-agency coordination
✅ Ambitious target to construct over 1,200 km of roads nationwide
With the invaluable support of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, this Charter aligns with World Trade Organization standards and is set to revolutionize the country’s trade and logistics.
Next steps? A Trade Logistics Council will oversee implementation, ensuring KPIs are met and progress is reported.
