The Dutch foundation Wheels4Africa, has decided to donate an ambulance to this clinic.
This charity foundation has provided ambulances for clinics in The Gambia since 2009 and has now donated 5 throughout the country. Ngungu Kebbeh clinic gets the 6th.
The car for this ambulance is the first one bought in The Gambia and is being converted here in Busumbala.
He is almost done. Jack van Duijn, the man behind this foundation, will come to The Gambia in January with the last small parts that were not available here. After that, he will take it to the clinic to hand it over during a short ceremony as agreed. He has a lot to do in the three weeks while in The Gambia.
In addition, he would rather celebrate when good results have been achieved with the transport of patients after a year and the ambulance has proven its usefulness.
The people of Ngungu Kebbeh are already busy building a garage, one of the demands that have been made.
The foundation will also continue to arrange normal maintenance so that it will continue to drive for as long as possible. Furthermore, one driver has been appointed, who take care of it and is the only one who is allowed to drive it. The clinic also receives bandages from the foundation. Jack will come and check the condition of the ambulance every year.
