Today at the National Youth Service Graduates Programme (NAYSGRAP), under the National Youth Service Scheme NYSS – The Gambia participants shared deeply inspiring stories of transformation, resilience, and growth during their service postings.
These testimonies highlight the different challenges and achievements encountered as youth interns capture an overwhelming desire to cope with the different challenges in this life-changing program.
The two-day review and planning convergence of (NAYSGRAP) on the theme “Integrated Approach to Tackling Youth Unemployment through Graduate Volunteerism”
One of the key issues that emerged during the discussion was the need to enhance the effective Monitoring and Evaluation system for the program and the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSS) to ensure greater sustainability and support for future participants.
Participants reflected on their journeys, recounting moments of doubt that turned into triumphs.
“We stayed persistent, kept communicating, and showed resilience. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.” one of the participants shared.
Another participant emphasized the invaluable skills they gained:
“It wasn’t just about the work. It was about learning how to navigate professional spaces, build our personal brands, and find purpose. It prepared us to thrive even in the toughest environments.”
For many, the program became a gateway to new opportunities. One participant proudly shared how NAYSGRAP led to their current job:
“There were struggles, but I learned to persevere. This program taught me that every small step matters, and with determination, you can achieve anything.”
