On Tuesday, January 14, His Excellency Mohammed BS Jallow, Vice President of The Gambia, received two distinguished delegations at his office in Banjul.
Beakanyang Organization
The first delegation, led by Mr. Nfamara Jawneh, Executive Director of Beakanyang Organization, paid their annual courtesy call to the Vice President. The visit provided an opportunity to update His Excellency on the organization’s ongoing programs and initiatives, particularly their efforts in transitional justice and combating gender-based violence.
Mr. Jawneh highlighted two key projects during the discussions:
“Banding Bong”: A program fostering peace and reconciliation in NBR and WCR, supported by the Africa Transitional Justice Leadership Fund.
“Lahidoo”: A UNFPA-supported initiative in URR aimed at addressing harmful traditional practices like FGM and child marriage.
Vice President Jallow commended Beakanyang for their impactful work and assured them of the government’s continued support in addressing shared concerns.
The Office of the Vice President remains committed to supporting organizations and community initiatives that contribute to national development and social cohesion.
