The Government of The Gambia has paid homage to the late Hon. Alhagie Kalilu Singhateh, a distinguished politician, statesman, and former National Assembly Member and Minister of Education under the PPP regime.
On Monday, 20th January, a high-level delegation led by H.E. Mohammed B.S. Jallow, Vice President of The Gambia, on behalf of H.E. President Adama Barrow, attended the funeral service held at the King Fahad Mosque in Banjul. The service was graced by several ministers, National Assembly Members, dignitaries, politicians, family members, and mourners who gathered to honor a man whose life was dedicated to the service of his country and humanity.
In delivering the eulogy, Vice President Jallow described Hon. Singhateh as a true patriot whose contributions to The Gambia’s independence and educational development were profound and enduring. He highlighted Hon. Singhateh’s unwavering commitment to national progress, integrity, empathy, and his remarkable ability to connect with the people he served.
“As we stand here in solemn reflection, we recall the legacy of a leader who was not only a cornerstone in establishing our nation’s education framework but also a steadfast advocate for our independence and development,” said Vice President Jallow.
The Vice President extended the government’s condolences to the Singhateh family, praying for Allah’s mercy upon his soul and that his legacy continues to inspire generations to come.
The late Hon. Kalilu Singhateh will forever be remembered as one of the champions of Gambia’s independence and a tireless advocate for the advancement of education. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
