HE Mohammed BS Jallow, the vice president of the Gambia delivered a statement on behalf of His Excellency President Adama Barrow and the government of the Gambia at the African Heads of state Energy Summit, on Tuedday 28 January. Held at the Julius Nyerere Convention Centre in Dar Es Salam, Tanzania, the historic summit organized by African Union, World Bank, and the African Development Bank brought together African heads of state, ministers, Director generals and key partners to discuss on providing universal access to electricity for over 300 million people in Africa.
Delivering his statement at the summit, VP Jallow underscored the transformative role energy play in the development, modernization and economic empowerment of nations. He posited that the summit served as platform for galvanizing support from across the continent and among development partners to achieve the noble goal of universal electricity access in Africa by 2030.
VP Jallow further highlighted Gambia government significant strides and commitment to providing electricity access to 90 percent of its population by June, 2025.
He expressed profound gratitude to development partners for the unwavering support and commitment to Africaโs growth, saying that the summit represents an opportunity for meaningful dialogue and strengthened engagement between the continent and its partners.
