Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow has ordered an inquest into the death of General Bora Colley, who passed away while in custody.
The decision follows an application by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, dated March 10, 2025, requesting a formal inquiry into the circumstances of his death.
Acting under Section 11(1)(a) of the Coroners Act, Laws of The Gambia, the Chief Justice determined that an inquest was necessary to uncover the cause of General Colley’s death.
His Worship Dawda Phatty, Principal Magistrate of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court, has been appointed to lead the investigation. He is tasked with conducting a thorough inquiry and submitting a comprehensive report to the Chief Justice within a reasonable timeframe.
