Beakanyang successfully completed a 3-day skills training on energy efficient cooking stoves making for metal workers in Taibatou, Wuli West district of Upper River Region.
Eight metal workers drawn from their project intervention communities were trained on stoves making, under their UNDP Climate Promise Project.
Addressing participants at the closing, Alkalo of Taibatou Alhagie Bemba Jabby congratulated the young metal workers for their dedication and commitment throughout the training.
“Skills training is very important and as youth armed with skills like this you should consider yourselves lucky. I urged you to put the newly acquired skills into good use and help us mitigate climate change by reducing the demand on fare wood,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Muhammed Danjo from Touba Wuli thanked Beakanyang for providing them with a new skills.
He promised they will produce more improved stoves henceforth to supply the market.
Also present at the closing ceremony Executive Director, Mr Nfamara Jawneh who also hailed the trainees for the successful training. He used the opportunity to elaborate on the environmental, economic, social and health benefits of improved cooking stoves.
