A high-level delegation led by CRR Governor Ousman Bah, Police Commissioner Jawara Demba, PIU Commissioner ACP Babucarr Cham, SIS Directors Amie Ndong and Sidat Touray, Chief of Upper Fulladu Ali Modou Touray, and ACP Sidia Kujabi visited Sare Sofi and Gabou Farama villages to mediate a long-standing pastureland dispute.
Upon arrival, the team met the Alkalos—Sireh Sey of Sare Sofi and Yerrow Jamanka of Gabou Farama—who recounted the history of peaceful coexistence and previous agreements demarcating boundaries with landmarks such as a baobab tree. Disagreements arose when land near the grazing area was allocated for a football field, causing friction over cattle access during matches.
Governor Bah emphasized that while diplomacy remains the first option, the law will apply if necessary. The CRR Police Commissioner reminded both sides that the purpose of the visit was to safeguard the grazing land, not to resolve broader boundary claims. He warned that any further encroachment for farming would face legal action and announced that a joint team will soon mark the pasture boundaries with pegs.
In closing, Governor Bah urged community leaders to find common ground, retain the football field if possible, but avoid compromising grazing rights critical to local livelihoods.
