
The North Bank Region (NBR) ongoing road construction projects (Nuimi Hakalang Loop and Secondary Roads Project and the Banni-Sallikene-Njaba Kunda road project) have intensified their preparations to tackle any expected flooding on their projects.
Niumi Hakalang Loop Roads Project
The 84.5km road project, which is divided into three sections, starts from Bunaidu to Kuntaur through Chilla Jurunko. It also includes connecting roads from Albreda to Fass Omar Saho and Bangally to Bafuloto in the North Bank Region (NBR).
The project is contracted to CSE, while Pace & GAMECS are the consultants.
As part of their preparations in tackling and alleviating any flooding issues, the contractor has started opening the culverts, earth ditches, concreting site drains, and site cleaning, amongst others
Following the completion of the asphalt in section 1 and sealings of sections 2 and 3, the contractor has also started the installation of the road furniture, such as the erection of the marker post, guardrails, traffic signs, speed dump and the village name posters.
They have also conducted a trial of the road marking of the main Loop at Aljamdou village.
Banni-Sallikene-Njaba Kunda Road Project
This road is approximately 17km long, and it is contracted to Bajam Construction Company.
In their preparations for the rainy season, Bajam Enterprise Ltd are constructing drainage systems and culverts, including cleaning the Irish crossings and all necessary diversions.
Their civil works team is currently working during the entire rainy season.
Meanwhile, their current activity on site in Banni-Sallikene-Njaba includes priming, sealing, civil work, and kerb laying.
