
Greater Tomorrow beat GAF ladies 4-3 to seal the GFF women’s second division league title on Saturday afternoon, July 5th 2025.
In a contest played at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama, striker Elizabeth Ndecky swept into the corner to give her side the lead in the twelfth minute before captain Wuday Colley made it 2-0 with a stunning free kick in the 45th minute.
Greater Tomorrow took a 2-0 lead into the break, but after lemon time, it’s the soldiers who came out and stunned the crowd with two goals in two minutes.
Forward Fatou Beyai headed in five minutes after the restart from Abissey Jarju’s free kick to reduce the deficit.
Maria Camara stylishly flicked home from an Abissey Jarju low ball in from the right to make it two all in 52 minutes. Cheeky goal from an experienced player.
With Fortune watching, Greater Tomorrow knew they had to step up to the mark to seal the title.
Gambia U20 forward Mesinda Mendy crashed a shot against the crossbar onto the ground in the 56th minute. The referee has judged it to be over the line and awards a goal; Coach Peter Mendy’s girls are 3-2 up.
Mesinda Mendy, again fourteen minutes from time, beat the GAF keeper Fanta Krubally to a brilliant pass forward by exciting midfielder Jubah Colley and rolled it into an empty net to restore the two-goal lead.
Coach Joseph Jabang’s GAF still had something left in them when they scored their third in the 86th minute; Greater Tomorrow failed to deal with a free kick, and substitute Binta Ceesay poked into the net to set up thrilling final minutes.
The Brikama base club held on to secure the victory, the title and a place in the women’s top division next season.
