
The newly elected Committee of the Serrekunda West Sports Organisation (SWESO) today called on the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) at Football House in Kanifing.
The Committee headed by its President, James Joseph Gomez, were at Football House to forster collaboration and partnership with the football leadership. Mr. Gomez noted that the Committeee deemed it fitting to visit the ‘father of football” in the Gambia in order to have a smooth working environment. He thanked the GFF for the developments embarked on at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium over the years and urged for more collaboration in the future to develop and promote football.
Receiving the Committee, the First Vice President of the GFF, Mr. Bakary K. Jammeh congratulated the new Committee for their resounding election victory, which he noted is a testimony of the trust and confidence reposed in them by the stakeholders.
Mr. Jammeh said he is personally touched with the audience and is assured of a brighter future between the GFF and the Committee.
He highlighted on the composition of the GFF and its affiliate Clubs, Regional Football Associations and the Allied Associations. “SK West is a key member of the KMRFA and by extension the GFF and as such you have an integral role in our football development,” he remarked. He also reminded the Committee of the primary function of the GFF, which is to organise and develop football throughout the Gambia.
Mr. Jammeh further noted that infrastructure is a key weakness of football in the Gambia which the “GFF is aware of and is using most part of our support from FIFA to gradually improve the existing parks and build new ones as part of our operational support”. He said the lights at the Serrekunda West Park are to accord the GFF to be able to organise night matches and will be urgmented by the next phase to increase the lux.
He called on the Committee to guard the facilities well and to stick to the calendar of events.
The meeting was chaired by the General Secretary Lamin M. Jassey who earlier congratulated the James Joseph Gomez-led committee for their dedication and commitment at the start of their tenure and assured them of the Federation’s support at all times.
