โThe Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) on Wednesday 16th July, officially welcomed the Learning Mastermind consultants at its headquarters in Banjul, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at improving foundational learning outcomes in The Gambia.
โ
โThe welcoming ceremony was presided over by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Louis Moses Mendy, and attended by senior MoBSE management, alongside key partners including EFANet, Effective Intervention, and representatives from the Ministry of Financeโs Central Project Coordination Unit (CPCU).
โ
โThe gathering featured introductory briefings by both Learning Mastermind and MoBSE, setting the tone for the collaborative work ahead. Discussions focused on the shared commitment to enhance early-grade literacy and numeracy through a structured pedagogy approach, in line with the goals of the World Bank-funded RISE Project.
โ
โThis engagement marks an important step towards the co-design and eventual implementation of a competency-based curriculum and support systems that will benefit learners from Early Childhood Development (ECD) through Grade 4. The presence and support of key education stakeholders at this high-level welcome underscores the national importance of foundational learning reforms and the collective resolve to ensure that every child acquires the basic skills needed for lifelong success.
