
The Director General of Immigration and his delegation, in their continued resolve to strengthen ties between the GID and local communities, concluded a productive town hall meeting with local authorities, village elders, and Senegalese Border Police officials in Tabanding.
During the engagement, local authorities commended the dedication of immigration and security personnel stationed in Tabanding, while calling for additional support to enhance the operational capacity of the officers. They reaffirmed their communities’ commitment to supporting security services in the discharge of their duties.
Mr. Sene, Commissioner Special of the Senegalese Border Police, with the Senegalese Ward Councillor, expressed appreciation for the cordial inter-agency cooperation between The Gambia and Senegal in safeguarding border security. The delegation underscored the importance of such collaboration in strengthening bilateral relations, national security, and regional stability.
The GID delegation, led by DG Mboob and supported by the ADG for Processing, OiC ADG Operations, and OiC Community Engagement, reiterated the critical role of communities in migration and border management. They further emphasized the need for sustained support to security agencies in maintaining national integrity.
The Tabanding town hall meeting reflects the invaluable support provided by community leaders and local authorities in advancing security operations and promoting officers’ welfare.
Separately, DG Mboob and his delegation conducted a brief inspection of Jarreng Police Station and interacted with officers on duty.
The delegation now heads to the Lower River Region to continue its engagements.
