In a strong show of solidarity and compassion, The Hon. Minister, Dr. Habibatou Drammeh, yesterday paused her official engagements to visit Abdourahman Bah, a 6th Grader from Abuko Lower Basic School who was recently involved in a dangerous Car drifting incident at the Abuko Upper Basic School premises.
Young Abdourahman is currently receiving treatment at the Ndemban Clinic, Bakau.
Speaking during her hospital visit, the Hon. Minister offered prayers for Abdourahman and extended her heartfelt wishes for his swift and complete recovery.
The Hon. Minister expressed profound concern over the unfortunate incident, emphasizing the need for greater sense of discipline among young people.
“All those who are involved in these dangerous drifting activities are from homes” she noted, highlighting the crucial role of parents and families in curbing this anti social activity.
Reacting to the growing public concerns on drifting incidents especially within school premises, Minister Drammeh noted that the Ministry takes these concerns very seriously and will continue to engage with the relevant stakeholders to combat this dangerous activity.
In the case of Abdourahman, she noted that, it is comforting to know that the Police have apprehended the alleged perpetrators and the law will take its course.
“Drifting or any other activity that poses threat to the well-being of our students has no place in our schools or society. Our children deserve a safe space for learning.” She reaffirmed.
The Hon. Minister was accompanied by officials of the Ministry and Mrs. Fatou Bah, the Head-Teacher of Abuko LBS.
The family of Abdourahman Bah thanked the Hon. Minister for the visit and expressed gratitude and sincere appreciation for the envelope she presented to them.
NB: Contrary to the suggestions that Abdourahman’s leg was amputated, we wish to inform all concerned individuals that, by God’s grace, his leg was not amputated.
We wish little Abdourahman a speedy recovery.
