Police are investigating a burglary at the National Audit Office where laptops and a bag worth D351,000 were stolen from the ICT Support Office.
CCTV footage revealed two unidentified individuals entering and exiting the building with the stolen items. Crime scene investigators were unable to collect fingerprints due to prior contamination before police arrived.
After several arrests for questioning, police made a major breakthrough with the capture of Modou Mustapha Jallow, alias “Jamaica,” during a late-night operation near Westfield Cooperative. His arrest came after sustained surveillance and support from an informant.
Jallow has confessed to the crime, admitting he sold the stolen laptops on the Serrekunda black market. Police are now working to locate the alleged buyer and recover the stolen equipment.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
