This exciting and educative professional development programme brought together a total of 160 young educators from upper and senior secondary schools in Region 3 and Region 5 South.
For two impactful weeks, these passionate teachers were trained in leadership, effective classroom management, communication and collaboration, climate change, gender-based violence, safe school environments, unionism, and more.
The programme served as a space for knowledge sharing, empowerment, and growth, equipping educators with vital skills to become more effective and compassionate leaders in their classrooms and communities.
The final day, which also marked the closing ceremony, was a beautiful celebration of The Gambia’s rich cultural diversity. Participants showcased vibrant performances from different ethnic groups, reminding us all that though we may come from different cultural backgrounds, we are united as one people, bound by the spirit of peace, respect, and solidarity. The event also witnessed the presentation of certificates to all participants in recognition of their dedication and active participation.
The Gambia Teachers’ Union remains firmly committed to the continuous professional development of its members. We place premium value on our partnership with the Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF/FCE), whose collaboration makes programmes like Teaching Together possible year after year.
