The Director General of Immigration, Ebrima Mboob, has successfully concluded his nationwide Familiarisation Tour of Immigration installations, regional and local authorities, and community stakeholders.
The engagements culminated in a town hall meeting held at the Lasawharf Immigration Enforcement Base in Banjul. Marking the close of an intensive eight-day exercise, DG Mboob and his delegation engaged with the Imam of Lasawharf, town elders, women community leaders, heads of distinguished Immigration Units in Banjul, Immigration staff, and representatives from sister security services.
During the meeting, Commissioner Famara Colley delivered a comprehensive report on the activities of the Banjul Regional Immigration Unit, with particular emphasis on the enforcement of immigration regulations and efforts to promote compliance with alien registration procedures.
In his closing remarks, the Director General reflected on the multi-dimensional experience of the tour, commending Regional Immigration Commissioners, Regional Security Chiefs, local authorities, community leaders, and service personnel for their active participation and unwavering cooperation throughout the engagements.
He emphasized the tour’s significance in identifying critical border management gaps, strengthening community engagement, and informing strategic policy directions toward a more integrated and responsive border governance framework.
Strategically designed to foster dialogue with communities on immigration regulations and enhance internal coordination, the tour led to the successful conduct of twenty-eight (28) town hall meetings and forty-eight (48) inspections and site visits to border crossing points, Immigration posts, and land allocation sites across the country.
This milestone underscores a resolute vision to build a community-sensitive Immigration Service anchored in the principles of accountability, transparency, and strict adherence to legislative frameworks and institutional policies.
The Director General and his delegation expressed profound gratitude to all stakeholders for their support and collaboration. The Gambia Immigration Department remains firmly committed to national service.
