At a UDP convention in Seattle, USA, Ousainou Darboe condemned President Adama Barrowโs administration, accusing it of governance failures, endemic corruption, and a lack of accountability. He argued that these issues are the root cause of the suffering faced by Gambians, despite the governmentโs large annual budgets.
Darboe emphasized that each act of corruption directly harms citizens by diverting resources away from essential services like healthcare, education, and infrastructure. He positioned the UDP as the best alternative, pledging a government founded on honesty, integrity, and people-centered governance.
He urged unity among UDP members, warning against internal divisions and encouraging respectful collaboration with other opposition parties. As the 2026 elections approach, Darboe called the contest both a challenge and an opportunity, stressing the need for grassroots engagement and a clear, ethical leadership alternative.
He concluded with a rallying message, “the UDP must work tirelessly, unify its base, and build a Gambia grounded in accountability and real systemic change”.
