Specifically, 100 million will cover the Enhanced Credit Facility with an additional 65 million earmarked for Climate Smart financing in the country.
President Adama Barrow received this good news and glowing praise from Dr. Outtara WAUTABOUNA, the IMF Executive Director of West Africa Constituency 1, during a courtesy visit at State House in Banjul today.
Dr. Outtara WAUTABOUNA commended The Gambia for its progressive macroeconomic effort, expressing optimism about the country’s economic trajectory.
President Barrow appreciated the IMF for being a primary development partner of The Gambia. Moreover, President Barrow called for flexibility to ensure timely delivery of projects and programmes that will improve the lives and livelihoods of the people.
As a champion of African integration, President Barrow emphasised the need “to collaborate and work as a family. We have a strong human resource base with youthful populations across our continent. The best way is to create jobs and enabling environments for the youths to prosper.”
The team led by the Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs, Honourable Seedy Keita, introduced the Executive Director and his role in amplifying The Gambia’s voice within IMF.
The Finance Minister further briefed the President on the implementation progress of the second Enhance Credit Facility. “The Gambia became eligible for the Climate Smart Finance which will unleash additional financing fund for The Gambia” he added.
