
His Excellency Mohammed B. S. Jallow, Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, today received a high-level delegation from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Banjul Office at the State House in Banjul.
The visiting delegation, led by the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Louis Moses Mendy, was accompanied by Mr. Musa B.B. Conteh, Head of the National Office of WAEC in The Gambia.
Speaking after the audience, Mr. Conteh explained that the visit was a courtesy call to formally introduce the leadership of the Banjul Office to the Vice President, brief him on WAECโs activities, and highlight the Councilโs ongoing work in administering and managing national examinations. He further noted that the discussions touched on strengthening WAECโs partnership with the Gambian government in ensuring credible, transparent, and high-quality assessments for students across the country.
Vice President Jallow warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for their efforts in advancing education in The Gambia. He recalled his previous role as WAECโs Chief Government Nominee and Chairperson of the Gambia Administrative and Finance Committee, underscoring his deep familiarity with the Councilโs work and its importance to the future of Gambian youth.
The Vice President assured WAEC of governmentโs continued support in fostering a strong and effective education system that empowers students and strengthens national development.
