
Honourable Ebrima Jawo the Executive Coordinator of Banjul urges all Banjulians and Gambians at large to actively participate in initiatives that enhance health,sanitation,and disaster prevention in their communities as his office joined with other stakeholders to clean the city.
He emphasized the importance of community hygiene while commending the Gambia Armed Forces and all participants for their dedication and efforts throughout the exercise.
The Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Hon. Abdou Jobe also delivered concluding remarks, praising the massive turnout and commitment displayed by the citizens. He encouraged Banjulians to prioritize community development initiatives such as cleaning exercises and setting aside politics when addressing matters that serve the greater good of the city.
The cleansing exercise stands as a demonstration of unity, shared responsibility, and commitment towards a cleaner, healthier, and safer Banjul.
The initiative was supported by the Vice President Muhammed B.S Jallow and the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Mr Abdou Jobe. The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Seedy Njie, who happens to meet the team at the closing, gave a big moral support.
The Office of the Executive Coordinator, in collaboration with the Banjul City Council, orgrganized theย day-long cleansing exercise on Saturday within the commercial area of Banjul. The activity targeted major market spaces and road and ferry terminal areas with the aim of promoting hygiene, improving drainage systems, and fostering community responsibility.
The initiative brought together diverse stakeholders including the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), the Gambia Police Force (GPF), NDMA, NEA, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, the Banjul Scouts/ Baden Powell group, the Banjul Red Cross, women groups and other community-based organizations, political party representatives and market vendors. The strong turnout and dedication contributed to the overall success of the exercise.
