Four individuals arrested for protesting the removal of former Auditor General Momodou Ceesay have been granted bail.
The Gambia Police Force arraigned Environment and Climate Activist Kemo Fatty, Alieu Bah, Omar Saibo Camara, and Momodou Camara on 16 September 2025.
They face charges of unlawful assembly under Section 63 of the Criminal Offences Act 2025 and common nuisance under Section 137(1). All pleaded not guilty.
During proceedings, Momodou Camara stated he was not involved in the protest and had only visited a nearby garage to check his car when he was accused of filming the demonstration.
The prosecution did not oppose bail but requested conditions prohibiting the accused from taking part in any further protests without permission from the Inspector General of Police.
Magistrate Sallah granted bail, set at D50,000 per person, with one Gambian surety each, and instructed the accused to appear at their next hearing on Tuesday, 21 October at 1 pm.
