
Renowned Gambian journalist, anti-drug advocate, and sports entrepreneur Mamour M. Mbenga, popularly known as Kifa Barham, has successfully completed a Professional Certificate in Sports Management and Administration at the National Sports College in Winneba, Ghana. He graduated on Thursday, 25th September, alongside eighty-five (85) participants, including one international student.
Kifa has consistently pursued professional development in sports. In 2022, he earned a Diploma in Football Business Management and HR from Valley View University in partnership with Linked Sports Business College. In 2023, he furthered his studies in Sports Governance and Leadership at the National Sports College. He is also set to receive global certification as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM, USA) in collaboration with the Institute of Fitness Ghana (IFG).
Recognized nationally for his youth empowerment and anti-drug campaigns, Kifa serves as the Brand Ambassador of The Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG) in The Gambia. He has spearheaded initiatives addressing illicit drug abuse, crime, and the “back-way” migration syndrome, while also promoting health awareness and scholarship opportunities for vulnerable youth.
Speaking on his latest achievement, Kifa expressed gratitude to DLEAG and partners for their support:
“This is a milestone achievement that has given me valuable insights and experience in the sports education sector. I believe it is the beginning of a great opportunity to support youth, especially in sports, health, and wellness.”
He emphasized that drug abuse has derailed many young athletes’ careers and called on sports stakeholders to intensify awareness campaigns to safeguard the future of youth in sports.
