Talib Bensouda has urged those who left the United Democratic Party (UDP) to respect party leader Lawyer Ousainou Darboe and his supporters.
He has extended the same advice to members leaving other political parties.
Speaking at his movement’s inaugural rally at Ebonja Theatre, Bensouda said: “We have met those who left the UDP, and we informed them that we have left the party because we have divergent views. But always respect the party leader and party members.
“The same advice goes to all here: if you are leaving different political parties to join a movement, always respect them and their leaders.”
The rally, which attracted a large crowd, marked the official launch of the United Movement, Bensouda’s platform focused on principled politics and inclusive governance.
He emphasized that political differences should not justify disrespect or attacks on party leaders.
Supporters at the rally praised Bensouda’s emphasis on decorum and unity.
