
The Gambia Police Force (GPF), in collaboration with the Anti-Crime Unit, has arrested 43 people during an intelligence-led operation conducted on Thursday, October 9, across Bundung and Serekunda.
According to the police, 30 of the suspects were charged with common nuisance under Section 137 of the Criminal Offences Act, 2025. Nine were referred to the Gambia Immigration Department for further action, while two individuals suspected to be mentally unstable were taken to Tanka Tanka Psychiatric Hospital. One suspect was released on medical grounds, and another escaped during screening.
The operation targeted crime-prone areas as part of the GPF’s ongoing efforts to deter criminal activity and enhance public safety.
The police expressed appreciation to partner security services for their cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and order, urging the public to support law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities.
