
His Excellency Mohammed B.S. Jallow, Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, on Wednesday, 15th October received a high-level delegation from the African Development Bank (AfDB) at the State House in Banjul. The visit formed part of the mid-term review mission for the US$6 million Vulnerable Youth and Women Support Project, jointly implemented by the AfDB and the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) under the Office of the Vice President.
Led by Aminata Bahum Trawally, Principal Social Protection Officer at the AfDB, the team briefed the Vice President on the projectโs progress and discussed ways to strengthen its implementation for greater impact.
In his remarks, VP Jallow commended the AfDB for its continued partnership and commitment to supporting The Gambiaโs human capital development and poverty reduction efforts, describing the initiative as โa key pillar in empowering vulnerable populations and promoting inclusive growth.โ
The project focuses on skills training, literacy improvement, and access to essential social services such as health and education โ empowering out-of-school youth and women to become self-reliant and resilient.
Executive Director of NSPA, Mr. Momodou Dibba, explained that the mission aims to assess progress, identify challenges, and discuss practical solutions for the next phase of implementation. He reaffirmed the governmentโs unwavering commitment to accelerating results and ensuring the project delivers real change in communities across the country.

The Vulnerable Youth and Women Support Project continues to serve as a beacon of hope for many Gambians, strengthening social protection, promoting employability, and contributing to national development goals.
