The Gambia Police Force has arrested a man suspected of killing 44-year-old Nigerian national Gabriel Adiaga, whose partially burned body was discovered at Sting Corner in Serekunda.
According to police, the case was initially reported on October 14, 2025, as a missing person complaint after a friend informed officers that Mr Adiaga’s family in Nigeria had been unable to reach him for several days.
Investigators at the Serekunda Division launched a search operation and began inquiries around the victim’s residence.
A day later, on October 15, a partially burned body was found at Sting Corner, prompting an intensive police investigation.
Within eight hours of the discovery, officers arrested Wurry Barry, a Gambian national, who later confessed to the killing.
Police said investigations revealed that a violent altercation took place between the two men at the victim’s residence on October 13, 2025, which led to Mr Adiaga’s death.
The suspect allegedly attempted to conceal the crime by cleaning the scene, transporting the body to a secluded area at Sting Corner, and setting it on fire along with other items.
Following the arrest, police recovered key evidence including an iron rod believed to be the murder weapon, blood-stained clothing, the victim’s motorcycle and house keys, and other forensic materials.

The GPF said its investigation team demonstrated “outstanding professionalism and due diligence” in solving the case within hours, crediting the success to the growing use of intelligence-led policing and forensic methods.
The suspect remains in custody and will be charged in accordance with the law as investigations continue to establish the motive behind the killing.
