
Thousands of people witnessed the Gambian leader President Adama Barrow lay the foundation stone for the construction of a six (6) kilometer Garawol-Kusum road in the Upper River Region (URR).
The road will connect several communities including Baraji Kunda, Kebbeh Kunda, Kanjabina and Sami Kuta and other surrounding communities. The design incorporates comprehensive structures including side drains, and erosion control features. The road project is part of the 30km already surveyed for construction.
The project reinforces the governmentโs commitment to enhancing road infrastructure and fostering sustainable development.
The acting Managing Director of National Roads Authority Sulayman Sumareh Janneh disclosed that other roads linking Kumbija and Baniko are being considered for feasibility studies and eventual construction.
Having constructed a ring road connecting the primary roads in URR, the next phase of roads works in the region are secondary ones connecting to the main road network in the country. The initiative has excited residents of the Kantora constituency.
Multiple speakers including Honourable Billay G. Tunkara National Assembly Member for Kantora Constituency noted President Barrowโs development initiatives in health, women empowerment, education, agriculture, energy amongst others. They further thanked the President for renewing hope in the constituency.
