The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) regrets to inform the public of a delay to the kickoff of the highly anticipated 2025/26 domestic league season. This postponement stems from the current unavailability of several designated league grounds, which are presently being used for Nawettans—local community football tournaments—rendering them inaccessible for league matches at this time.
The GFF acknowledges the disappointment this news may cause to our cherished clubs, committed players, and enthusiastic supporters who have been eagerly awaiting the new season. We extend our sincere apologies for any inconvenience or disruption this unavoidable decision may bring.
Efforts are underway to secure alternative arrangements that will allow for a smooth and timely resumption of league activities. A revised start date will be communicated to all stakeholders once these plans are finalised. The Federation remains dedicated to ensuring the league resumes under optimal conditions, with safety and competitive integrity as top priorities.
Importantly, the player registration period remains unaffected by this delay. Clubs are reminded that the final deadline for player registration is November 16th, 2025.
The GFF deeply appreciates the patience and continued support of all clubs, players, officials, and fans as we work through these logistical challenges. Our commitment to the growth and success of Gambian football remains unwavering.
